The detailed dynamical modeling of relativistic heavy-ion reactions as they are studied at GSI, RHIC and LHC is essential to gain physics insights on hot and dense strongly interacting matter from observables. The group works on microscopic non-equilibrium evolution with SMASH, a hadronic transport code, and a hybrid approach, where SMASH is coupled to the 3+1 D viscous hydrodynamics code vHLLE. There is a lot of effort concerning sustainable software development and open source codes within the group.
